Frequently Asked Questions - Intensive Training Week

For your convenience, here are some frequently asked questions from parents and our answers.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

We help children in overcoming developmental challenges, including conditions such as autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, dyslexia, and cerebral palsy
The intensive therapy is from the 23rd of July to the 27th of July at NW7 Mill Hill Broadway, London

The intensive starts with a full neurological assessment. There are 2 sessions of 90 minutes each on the first 4 days.
On the 5th day there will be one session.

This is 13.5 hours in total.

Dr. Omer brings more than 12 years of experience working with children, including those who are non-verbal, low-functioning, or highly sensitive to touch. As parents of special kids ourselves, we’ve encountered a wide range of situations and successfully navigated challenging circumstances.

Absolutely! The cost of the intensive program covers support for the initial 3 months. You’ll receive a follow-up call with Dr. Omer and two additional follow-up calls with Dana and Adi. These calls are designed to ensure that parents feel confident in correctly implementing the customized plan. And rest assured, Dr. Omer will always be available for any necessary additional calls

Our mission is to empower children to overcome their challenges, enhance their health, and foster positive changes in their nervous systems. Our approach is rooted in Dr. Robert Melillo’s Method, which prioritizes child development and has positively impacted tens of thousands of children.

Our therapy is meticulously customized to address specific areas of development that may not have progressed as expected. By focusing on a hemispheric approach, we aim to balance and optimize brain function.

At the conclusion of the intensive week, each family will receive a comprehensive ‘Home Program.’ This program is designed to extend the benefits of the intensive intervention throughout the subsequent months.

Indeed, our approach involves activating and stimulating brain networks, integrating primitive reflexes, enhancing vagal tone, and strengthening core muscles. Additionally, we focus on stabilizing the body and improving balance.

Recognizing the intricate nature of speech production is crucial when addressing speech and language disorders. Effective interventions require a deep understanding of this complexity.

Furthermore, addressing retained primitive reflexes, enhancing core strength, and addressing vestibular and developmental challenges serve as the foundational building blocks for speech and articulation. These elements are essential for achieving meaningful progress.

Melillo’s method is a scientifically validated approach specifically designed to tackle a range of neurological issues, such as ADHD, dyslexia, and autism spectrum disorders. The program focuses on enhancing the balance and communication between the brain’s two hemispheres.

Typically, this method incorporates a combination of sensory-motor exercises, cognitive activities, and dietary interventions

All the devices used in our intensive program are US FDA approved and safe for both children and adults.

Research has demonstrated the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). These techniques modulate neural activity in the human brain using weak electrical currents, and they are administered painless and non-invasively.

As a side note, during our intensive program, we utilize half of the current intensity used in the research mentioned above.

Additionally, we employ Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), which provides external energy to neurons. This energy helps neurons utilize the stimulation we provide through various means, promoting growth and efficiency. Specifically, we target a cellular component called chromophores, especially within the mitochondria. This process enhances ATP production.

Furthermore, we incorporate Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). TENS aims for passive tactile stimulation, primarily. The only adverse effects typically observed are skin irritation, which may occur if there’s an allergy to the stickers. Overall, TENS is a very safe form of stimulation that has been in use for decades.

  • Day 1:

    • The initial session is dedicated to a comprehensive assessment.
    • We evaluate primitive reflexes, vestibular function, balance (if feasible), core strength (if feasible), compartment muscle tone (if feasible), and eye function (if feasible).
    • In the afternoon session, we conduct additional tests if necessary or initiate therapy.
  • Days 2 to 4:

    • These days focus on therapy and parent training.
    • We address primitive reflexes, vestibular function, core strength, brain hemispheric balancing, and integration.
  • Day 5:

    • On the final day, we perform post-testing for selected findings.
    • We answer any remaining questions and provide additional therapy if time permits.
  • Throughout the week, we also consider nutritional needs and engage in discussions about home dynamics and parenting styles

Parents play an integral role in the intensive training program. Throughout the intensive week, you will learn the exercises, and starting from the second day, you’ll practice them under our guidance. This ensures that when you return home, you’ll feel confident performing the exercises daily

Similar to any intervention, we cannot guarantee specific results because each child’s progress is unique. The intensive program serves as a ‘jump start’ for your child’s brain development. While we observe progress during the intensive week, the majority of advancements occur afterward, at home. Therefore, training parents to perform daily exercises is essential for the program’s success.

To secure your spot in the intensive program, we require a £1000 deposit.

Our cancellation and refund policy is outlined as follows:

  1. If you cancel more than 30 days before the intensive, we will fully refund your deposit.
  2. If you cancel within 30 days, your deposit will be forfeited unless we can accommodate a participant from our waiting list.
  3. For cancellations within 2 weeks of the intensive, a 50% charge of the remainder applies unless we can replace your spot.
  4. If cancellation occurs within 7 days, a 75% charge of the remainder applies unless we can accept a replacement.
  5. For cancellations made less than 48 hours before the intensive, the full deposit amount will be charged.
  6. In cases of medical emergencies, we will assess each situation individually.

Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated

The intensive week’s intervention plays a crucial role in a child’s brain development. However, some children may find it challenging due to the effort and concentration required. Since they don’t fully grasp the benefits of the intervention, they may not actively choose to participate in certain activities.

  1. Parent-Engaged Intensive Program:

    • Our UK-based program stands out because it actively involves parents during the intensive week.
    • We guide parents through exercises following the Melillo method.
    • By practicing and implementing these exercises during the intensive, parents gain confidence to continue at home.
  2. Certified Therapists:

    • Your child will work with 2 to 3 certified therapists at any given time.
    • This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive support.
  3. Dr. Omer’s Expertise:

    • Dr. Omer, a specialist in childhood neurology with over 12 years of experience, personally oversees the intensive.
    • His expertise is invaluable for your child’s progress.
  4. Intensive Hours and Support:

    • Throughout the week, we dedicate almost 14 full hours to your child (excluding additional assessments).
    • This intensive effort is equivalent to nearly 19 weeks’ worth of regular therapy!
    • Additionally, we invest extra hours in creating a unique plan tailored to your child’s needs, along with ongoing support.
  5. Post-Intensive Zoom Calls:

    • Within the first 3 months after the intensive, you’ll have 2 Zoom calls with Dana and Adi and 1 with Dr. Omer.
    • We prioritize your success and aim for faster results.
  6. Extended Plan Duration:

    • The plan you receive will cover at least 6 months of training.
    • During this period, you won’t need paid appointments unless you choose to book additional sessions.
  7. Understanding and Empathy:

    • With our collective experience as parents of special kids, we truly understand your journey.
